These classes are for students in fourth through seventh grade who show an interest in art and a desire to improve their drawings skills. I'd like to point out that this is not a substitute for child care. I love teaching children, but if they don't want to be in the class, they're not going to get much out of it. That being said, don't let a lack of skill or training deter you. The classes are open to students of all skill levels. I am careful to provide individualized instruction for each student during class time so that they get the attention they need to grow and excell.

 

The curriculum is written by me, and the focus is on learning to see like an artist. I believe that once that skill has been mastered, it only takes practice from that point on in order to hone your skill. Students are encouraged to practice often throughout the week, because without practice, you won't improve. I usually send home a simple assignment each week so that the students have something specific to work on before the next class.

 

I will hold two classes per week, one on Friday afternoons at 4:00, and one on Saturday mornings at 10:30. You may sign your child up for whichever is more convenient for you. There will be 12 slots available in each class, and once full, I'll post a note here. Individual lessons will be offered at various times on Friday and Saturday, as is convenient for you. Class is held for one hour each week, and I ask  that you avoid absences as much as possible, though reasonable excuses will be accepted. Missing too many classes means missing valuable information and class time.

 

The cost of the class is $20 per class, per student, which can be paid on a weekly or monthly basis. The class follows the school year, and will end at the beginning of summer, 2011. Cost for a private lesson is $25 per lesson.
